Top advantages of Salesforce Lightning

Posted On by Jessica Stern

First released by Salesforce in 2016, Lightning Experience is full of game-changing development tools to help your company increase productivity. Rolled out as standard from early 2020, the fast and beautiful user experience from Salesforce has continued to go from strength to strength, supporting your sales reps to win more deals.

Lightning provides a more responsive interface than Salesforce Classic, which is better suited for mobile applications. It automatically adapts to the look and feel of the device you are using. Lightning applications have richer components for the client-side and can embed newer and more varied types of visualisation.

1. Design for ease of use

The Lightning interface is modern, efficient and smart. All Salesforce users have a consistent experience across every device – desktop, tablet and mobile. Relevant information is surfaced for each screen, streamlining processes and making workflows more intuitive. Compared to Classic, the Lightning Interface will delight users because of two key improvements. First, the cool stuff from the mobile experience is now available to desktop users in the collapsible navigation. Second, the Note’s “autosave” functionality and the rich-text capabilities are here to ensure a better experience.

2. The homepage is customisable

Salesforce Lightning allows the homepage to be whatever is needed for the user. You can see the overdue tasks and leads that have been assigned plus opportunities in sales fields that potentially have a problem. This homepage can be customised to display the information you need the most, helping you be more efficient.

3. Views are smarter

Out-of-the-box Lightningviews feature smarter analytics. It remembers which views are most commonly accessed by each user and helps them focus on what is more important. That means, information is displayed more dynamically and more visually than ever before.

4. Dashboards allow more columns

This is great news: your dashboards are no longer restricted to three columns! Of the 150,000+ customers who weighed in on the new features, the no.1 requested feature was a four-column dashboard and here it is! Moreover, the components on dashboards are now animated which allows more data-driven decisions at a glance. Users can view open and closed sales amounts, as well as see their deals closed by date.

5. Drag-and-drop status changes make “working” an opportunity even easier

Lightning’s“Pipeline Board” allows for each opportunity to be manually moved between stages by dragging and dropping, and the sales forecast will be automatically updated. Your sales reps have an easier time understanding what stage each opportunity is at, and a better understanding of their target metrics.
